Our Top Ten UK Golf Breaks

What better way is there than to look after one of your key clients, reward a hard working employee or simply to treat a family member or friend for Christmas, than a golf break at one of our selected courses below. There may be a chill in the air, but wrapped up warm and with the morning sun overhead, what a perfect way to start the day! We have some fabulous offers at a variety of different locations around the country to include two rounds of golf and bed & breakfast accommodation, combined with an evening meal at the majority of the locations. Our locations include the following;

Thorpeness Hotel & Golf Club, Suffolk: £175

This Suffolk gem is heathland in style, and though not long - measuring 6,432 from the tips - is a fantastic test. Visiting golfers will be charmed as the layout winds its way through silver birch and pine, gorse and heather, in a fashion reminiscent of the world-renowned courses at Sunningdale and Woodhall Spa. The sandy soil gives Thorpeness a superb links accent, while the course's quality has been recognised with the award of a number of regional, national and international tournaments.

MacDonald Cardrona, Scotland; £149 (Second Picture)

Renowned course architect Dave Thomas' brief at Cardrona was to create a beautiful and challenging layout, completely harmonious with the extraordinary surrounding landscape. Using all the local features, Thomas, to his enormous credit, has managed to build the course to feel mature beyond its few years. Despite its position close to some pretty hilly terrain, the course itself is relatively flat, offering an enjoyable challenge to all those fortunate enough to visit Cardrona for a golfing break. The testing par-73 track is now a regular stop on the PGA European Tour, owing not just to the golf course, but also the fantastic practice facilities on-site.

MacDonald Hill Valley, Shropshire; £149

Hill Valley is fortunate to be the home of two excellent championship courses, both of which come courtesy of the legendary design duo, Peter Allis and Dave Thomas. Since their inauguration in 1975, they have matured nicely, and are integral to Hill Valley's reputation as a fantastic golf resort.

Forest Pines, Lincolnshire; £165

Forest Pines is one of the best new courses to be opened in England in recent years. Despite only being inaugurated in 1996, the championship course has fast established a reputation as a genuine tournament venue. Designer John Morgan, who currently plays on the Senior PGA Tour, has carved out some tremendous holes from the towering pines that are so characteristic of the landscape. The course is compiled from three separate nine-hole loops called the Pines, the Beeches and the Forest, with the different combinations adding welcome variety to a golf break.

Lostwithiel Hotel & Golf Club, Cornwall; £139

Lostwithiel's charming golf course provides visitors with a pleasant variety of intriguing holes, running next to the River Fowey and spanning the beautiful parkland of this part of Cornwall. Measuring just under 6,000 yards, the course is manageable for every golfer, whilst still presenting talented players with a serious challenge.

The Park Resort; Bristol; £149

The 240 acres of parkland that play host to the Park's two golf courses make for a stunning landscape, home to trees that are over 400 years of age. The two distinct layouts and the beautiful views across the Cotswolds make this one of the best golf resorts in the South of England.

Formby Hall, Lancashire; £175

Despite only opening in 1996, Formby Hall has already staged PGA Challenge Tour events, with measuring over 7,000 from the championship markers is a considerable test and is regarded as a welcome addition to the seemingly endless list of excellent courses in the North-West.

Marriott Forest of Arden, Warwickshire; £175 (First Picture)

The Forest of Arden is among the most highly regarded golf resorts in the UK, with two superb golf courses and fantastic hotel facilities. The Arden Course is one of the country's most established tournament layouts, having hosted the cream of the European Tour for the British Masters from 1997-1999 and in 2003, and the English Open from 2000-2002.

The Springs, Oxford; £169

Flanking the River Thames, the course at the Springs also features 3 lakes, making it an extremely picturesque setting for a round of golf. Situated in no less than 133 acres of parkland, the layout was conceived by Brian Huggett MBE, a former Ryder Cup player, and measures 6,470 yards at its fullest length.

Donnington Grove, Berkshire; £165

Donnington Grove's excellent parkland layout was designed by Dave Thomas, the esteemed golf course architect and former Ryder Cup player. His trademark can be seen on many of the United Kingdom's top courses, most notably the Brabazon at the Belfry, which helps to explain why Donnington Grove is held in such high regard.
