We are delighted to offer a fabulous ‘Cook-Along Grilling Event’ with the England cricket legend, Matthew Hoggard.
Your exclusive grill-along event with Matthew Hoggard will be hosted by a Sky Sports presenter and will be staged from his grill centre in Rutland. You will choose a dish that appeals most to you from a list provided by Hoggard and he will post out ingredient’s packs to all of your guests. Guests will be encouraged to answer questions in the message board and Hoggard will keep any eye on everyone’s cooking, with guests invited to leave their cameras on, but microphones turned off. Your Sky Sports presenter will also ask Hoggard some questions about his cricket and cooking experiences and his thoughts on the big matches to come over the next 12 months.
Matthew Hoggard: England Cricketer
Hoggard has always been a huge cooking fan, learning to braai (barbecue) when he lived in South Africa playing cricket, where this was a massive part of life. Travelling the world, Hoggard has picked up lots of cooking tips from a real wide range of cultures and he even took part in the BBC’s Celebrity Masterchef in 2013, where he competed with former boxing world champion Joe Calzaghe, TV star Les Dennis and rapper Speech Debelle.
Since retiring from cricket in 2013, Hoggard has finally had time to concentrate on his passion; grilling! He has been honing his skills since then, learning from international BBQ chefs and experimenting on as many different grills as he could lay his hands on! Grilling has become a daily occurrence for him and his family have had four grilled Christmas dinners to date!
Hoggard played 67 test matches for England, taking 248 wickets at an average of 30. He was a huge part of the 2005 Ashes winning side against Australia, which was the first English side in 18 years to win the famous urn. Hoggard was awarded the MBE in 2006 and has gone on to be a cricket pundit and spending time developing his huge passion for cooking.
