You’ll join Woosie at the stunning La Moye Golf Club on the beautiful island of Jersey, where you’ll enjoy breakfast baps before heading out onto the course for a round you will never forget. After enjoying the challenges of La Moye, with it’s glorious vistas out to sea from the island, Ian will join you in the clubhouse for a post-round pint and sandwiches, with the chance to hear some more stories from the great man! There’ll be plenty of opportunities to take photos as treasured mementos of your day.
Ian Woosnam: Fondly known by his nickname ‘Woosie’, Ian’s most notable achievement came in 1991 when he won the US Masters Tournament by one shot from José MarÃa Olazábal in a thrilling finish, securing his place among the legends of golf. His victory marked him as the first Welshman to win a major championship, a feat that brought immense pride to his nation. During his illustrious career, he won 29 European Tour titles, placing him among the top players in the tour’s history. He performed well at all the Grand Slam tournaments, with 3rd place finishes in the Open Championship in 1989 and 2001, 2nd place in the US Open in 1989, and 6th place in the USPGA in the same year, with over 80 appearances in the Big Four.
Beyond individual success, Woosie was a stalwart of the Ryder Cup, representing Europe eight times as a player and captaining the team to a resounding victory in 2006. His leadership and fiery spirit were instrumental in forging Europe’s dominance in the competition. In 2017, the proud Welshman was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame, cementing his legacy as one of golf’s all-time greats.
