All eyes in the world of boxing were on the ExCel Arena in London for the World Heavyweight Title eliminator between bitter rivals Tyson Fury and Dereck Chisora. A strong undercard also featured another big domestic dust up between unbeaten rivals Billy Joe Saunders and Chris Eubank Junior, as well as Frankie Gavin against Bradley Skeete. Gala Events was proud to be an official provider of big fight hospitality, with guests arriving for a three course meal, and some superb entertainment.
Our special guest for the pre-fight hospitlality was Irish former Super Middleweight world champion Steve ‘The Celtic Warrior’ Collins and the event was hosted by Hayley McQueen from Sky Sports, who indulged in some memorable on-stage banter with the legendary brawler.
The action in the ring was hot, with a superb battle between Saunders and Eubank Jr setting the tone. With both fighters unbeaten, something had to give, and the superior expereince of Saunders enabled him to squeeze home in a tight decision on points. The big fight of the night then took place, with Tyson Fury dominant throughout, Chisora unable to get behind the giant champion’s defence. A bloodied and bruised Chisora was finally pulled from the fight by his own corner in the tenth round, after taking some heavy punishment.
It was a brilliant night’s entertainment, and we are grateful to Steve Collins who proved a charismatic speaker as part of our big fight hospitality, and to our host Hayley for doing such a great job.
