London Gold Cup Lunch 2024

What a fantastic London Gold Cup Lunch we had this year at the stunning 175 Suite at the Kia Oval! We were lucky to have two sporting legends join us – England’s iconic goalkeeper David James and the legendary spin bowler and TV personality Phil Tufnell.

In between the heart-pounding Cheltenham Gold Cup races, we feasted on delicious food and drinks. Our special guests also shared some amazing stories! David James, the former Liverpool keeper and current pundit, talked about his career highlights and even gave his thoughts on England’s chances at Euro 2024, praising our current goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Tuffers, as everyone knows him, kept us entertained with stories from his cricketing days. He reminisced about his county and international teammates, the fun they had on tours, and the legendary Brian Lara as he shared what it was like to bowl at the all-time great batsman while he racked up a record-breaking 375-run innings in the West Indies back in 1994!

The excitement wasn’t just from the great Q&A! The racing itself had everyone cheering and placing bets with the in-house bookies. Our expert tipster, Brendan Powell, even impressed with his picks, including the winner of the Main Race (Galopin Des Champs at 3:30pm) and two other top finishers.
