Gareth Barry
A product of Brighton’s youth system, Gareth Barry is one of the most accomplished players of the Premier League era, spending the majority of his career at Aston Villa, where he made 441 appearances, scoring 52 goals. A model of consistency, he later won the FA Cup and Premier League with Manchester City before influential stints at Everton and West Bromwich Albion. Gareth holds the Premier League record for appearances, with an astonishing 653 matches under his belt. Renowned for his intelligence and positional discipline, he earned 53 England caps between 2000 and 2012, representing the Three Lions at major international tournaments and serving as a dependable figure across multiple England squads.
Matthew Upson
After a youth career with Luton Town, Matthew built a distinguished career as a central defender, with a four year stint at Arsenal, before signing for Birmingham City, where he became a key figure and club captain. He also played for Reading, West Ham United, Stoke City and Brighton HA, where he won player of the year, making 462 senior club appearances, scoring 16 goals. Known for his composure, leadership and aerial strength, Matthew won 21 caps for England, scoring 2 goals and was part of the squad at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, memorably scoring England’s against Germany in the last-16 match. Since retiring he has featured as a pundit on the BBC’s World Cup coverage.
Steve Bull
Steve Bull is a Midlands football icon and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ greatest ever goal scorer. He spent the vast majority of his career at Wolves, scoring an extraordinary 306 goals in 561 appearances and spearheading their rise from the old Fourth Division to the First Division. Despite playing his club football at Molineux outside the top tier, Bull earned 13 England caps, scoring four international goals. A prolific, instinctive striker, he remains synonymous with Wolves and Midlands football, and is widely regarded as one of the most lethal English finishers of his generation, revered at Molineux to this day.
Dave Fulton (Host)
Dave enjoyed a 15-year professional cricket career with Kent, playing in 200 First Class matches with an average in the high 30s, and over 100 one day games. His best season came in 2001, when he scored an incredible 1892 First Class runs at an average of just under 76, being crowned PCA Player of the Year. Since retiring from the game in 2006, Dave has forged a career as a cricket journalist and event host, appearing regularly on Sky Sports’ cricket coverage and Sky Sports News. A huge sports fan, David has previously hosted our Lord’s Long Room and Birmingham Gold Cup Lunches on numerous occasions, as well as a number of boxing, darts and football events.
