Our latest Newcastle theatre event, An Evening with Jonas Gutierrez took place at the Tyne Theatre and Opera House and proved to be a terrific night for the Newcastle United fans in attendance. The atmosphere crackled with Geordie pride as Jonas Gutierrez, or “Spiderman” (after his iconic celebration) returned to Tyneside. Hosted by Sky Sports presenter Pete Graves, the evening offered a fantastic journey through Jonas’ career. From his early days to his eventful time at Newcastle and onto his career now the conversation flowed with insights and anecdotes. Fans were treated to stories about that unforgettable Championship-winning season, that last day goal against West Ham and the incredible fight Jonas showed battling testicular cancer.

Jonas’ personality on and off the pitch was evident from the conversation as alongside him the evening’s other special guests on the night Ryan Taylor and James Perch confirmed. His strength, resilience, and positive spirit shone through too and as well as the football it was also a heartwarming reminder of the human side of the sport and the inspiring impact players can have.

The presence of local lad Pete Graves as host added a familiar touch, ensuring the conversation resonated with the Geordie crowd. Laughter, cheers, and even a few emotional moments filled the historic Tyne Theatre, making it a truly special night for the Toon Army.
