George Groves v Chris Eubank Jr

George Groves v Chris Eubank Jr

We are thrilled to offer official hospitality for the huge world title clash between British Super-middleweight rivals George Groves and Chris Eubank Jr.

In what looks like one of the closest match-ups in recent years, two great Britons collide as George Groves and Chris Eubank Jr put their titles and legacies on the line in what could be a career-defining clash for both boxers. We are thrilled to be an official hospitality provider for this huge clash at Manchester Arena. Enjoy fantastic pre-fight hospitality at the nearby Renaissance Hotel, with a three-course dinner hosted by Sky Sports presenter Pete Graves, complimentary bar, boxing memorabilia auction and analysis from former world IBF middleweight champion and Sky Sports analyst, Darren Barker. With a choice of fantastic ticket options for the evening’s boxing, and further hospitality after the fight, with special guest Anthony Ogogo, this is a night not to be missed!

Groves v Eubank Jr: In a mouth-watering clash of temperaments and styles, “St. George” lines up against Chris “Next Gen” Eubank, in the semi-final of the World Boxing Super Series. In addition, Groves’ WBA Super-Middleweight title and Eubank’s IBO Super-Middleweight titles are amongst the spoils for the winner, with defeat promising to be a huge blow for either fighter. Never one to duck a challenge, Groves went in twice against British boxing legend Carl Froch, giving the Cobra serious problems in both fights, with his only other defeat as a pro being in another world title fight against Sweden’s Badou Jack. George deservedly got his hands on a world title in defeating Fedor Chudinov in May 2017, and has since defended successfully against Jamie Cox. Eubank’s only defeat came against Billy Joe Saunders in 2014, since then he has amassed 8 victories, including winning the IBO title against Australian Renold Quinlan, which he has successfully defended against both Arthur Abraham and Avni Yildirim. The winner of this huge clash will no doubt look to unify the division, with a possible clash against IBF champ James DeGale high on the list of probabilities.

Darren Barker: We are delighted to welcome current Sky Sports boxing pundit, and former IBF World Middleweight champion, Darren ‘Dazzling’ Barker to analyse the evening’s boxing. Darren enjoyed an excellent career as a pro, winning his first 23 fights, 14 within the distance, culminating in European middleweight title victories over Affif Belghecham and Domenico Spada. His first defeat as a pro against the brilliant Argentine Sergio Martinez, with Darren performing admirably before succumbing in the 11th, against the man ranked the 3rd best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet at the time, behind Mayweather and Pacquiao! Darren deservedly got his hands on a world title belt in August 2013, with a hard-fought split decision over Australian Daniel Geale, fighting back superbly after being knocked down in the 6th round. After losing in his subsequent defence to the German Felix Sturm, ‘Dazzling’ was forced to retire due to long term problems with a hip injury.

Anthony Ogogo: After winning Silver at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, Anthony cemented his reputation as a huge up-and-coming talent with a Bronze medal in the Middleweight division at London Olympics 2012. Since turning professional he won his first 11 fights, 7 inside the distance, including a quickfire victory over Frane Radnic at London’s O2 Arena on the Joshua-Brezeale undercard. He suffered his first setback as a pro when losing to Craig Cunningham in his first title fight, for the WBC International Middleweight belt, after being badly hampered by a fractured eye socket. Fight fans will be looking forward with relish to Anthony getting back to winning ways once fully overcoming his injury, and fulfilling his huge potential by fighting for a world title in the not-too-distant future.
