Guests joined us in the Wyatt Suite at Edgbaston for hospitality during the second IT20 fixture in the England v Pakistan warm up series ahead of the 2024 Cricket World Cup.
We were treated to superb stories from no less than four top special guest speakers on the day, with former England international cricketers David Gower, Ian Bell and Dominic Cork taking their places alongside legendary Pakistan former spin bowler Saqlain Mushtaq.
On the field the England v Pakistan match began with England staring brightly after being put in to bat by Pakistan. With contributions across the top order but in particular captain Jos Buttler, scoring 84 from 77 balls, helping England take the game to the tourists. Pakistan fought back however with 4 wickets falling for just 21 runs at the end of England’s innings to leave them on 183-6 from their 20 overs.
England also began brightly with the ball, two early wickets leaving Pakistan 14-2, but 32 for Babar Azam and 45 for Fakhar Zaman steadied the ship. England’s bowlers kept working away though and wickets fell at regular intervals across the innings with England eventually bowling out their opponents for 160 after 19.2 innings to achieve a solid victory. Every English bowler took at least one wicket, but the pick on the day was Jofra Archer on his return from injury, finishing with figures of 2-28 and showing what an important player he could be in the upcoming World Cup.
We hope everyone had a great time and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
