An Unforgettable Day of Cricket at Edgbaston.

On Saturday 18 July 2026, Gala Events welcomed guests to the exclusive Wyatt Suite at Edgbaston for a thrilling day of T20 cricket as the best teams in the competition battled it out for the T20 Blast title.

With a full day of premium hospitality, exceptional cricket and the chance to hear from England cricket legend Darren Gough, guests enjoyed an unforgettable experience at one of the biggest days in the domestic cricket calendar.

The action began with two eagerly anticipated semi-finals, with Northamptonshire Steelbacks taking on Somerset before Hampshire Hawks faced Notts Outlaws. With a place in the evening’s showpiece final at stake, the atmosphere around Edgbaston was electric from the very first ball.

Guests in the Wyatt Suite were able to enjoy the drama in comfort, with full-day food and drinks service throughout the event before heading out to the suite’s private balcony seating, providing an excellent vantage point from which to take in the action on the field.

Darren Gough Joins Guests in the Wyatt Suite

One of the highlights of the day was the opportunity to meet and hear from former England star Darren Gough, who joined guests as our special guest in the Wyatt Suite.

A hugely popular figure in English cricket, Gough shared stories and insights from his illustrious international career, giving guests a fascinating perspective on the modern game while adding an extra layer of exclusivity to an already special day.

The combination of premium hospitality, balcony seating and access to a cricketing great created the perfect environment for guests to enjoy the excitement of Finals Day.

Northamptonshire Steelbacks Lift the T20 Blast Trophy

The day’s action culminated in a dramatic final between Northamptonshire Steelbacks and Hampshire Hawks, with Northamptonshire eventually claiming their third T20 Blast title after a thrilling 14-run victory.

Northamptonshire posted 169 after being asked to bat first, with Ricardo Vasconcelos anchoring the innings with an impressive 88. Hampshire appeared to be building towards the target through Joe Weatherley, who followed his unbeaten 88 in the semi-final with a hard-fought 75 in the final.

However, Northamptonshire produced a remarkable finish with the ball. England paceman Ben Sanderson claimed 5-21, becoming the first bowler to take five wickets in a T20 Blast Finals Day match, before removing Weatherley and Sonny Baker from successive deliveries to seal the trophy.

With Hampshire needing 31 runs from the final 20 balls and the game ultimately going down to the final over, guests watching from Edgbaston’s Wyatt Suite were treated to a nerve-shredding conclusion to an action-packed day of cricket.
