It is our great pleasure to confirm that legendary England flanker James Haskell will be joining us for the evening, it will be wonderful to hear from one of the biggest stars of his generation who played against and alongside the greatest names of the era for both club and country. Guests will enjoy a memorable evening of rugby chat as James delves into stories from his long career at the top of the game with our Sky Sports presenter host, Pete Graves. With a drink’s reception and photo opportunity with James included, a fantastic three course dinner prepared by the award-winning Alverton team, and the opportunity to hear from an English sporting legend, this is an evening not to be missed!
James Haskell
James is one of the England’s best-known rugby players and corporate speakers. Having progressed through rugby circles at a rapid rate, Haskell was one of The Aviva Premiership’s top flankers, with the ability to play in all three positions across the back row. Aged just 18, he played his first professional season as the youngest member of the Wasps senior squad helping them to win the Zurich Premiership. As well as two spells at Wasps he also played two seasons for French giants Stade Francais before finishing his career at Northampton Saints. One of England’s most-capped forwards, James played an impressive 77 times for his country, scoring 4 tries, and was a key player in the 2011 Six Nations-winning team. Amongst many other achievements, he was named as the ‘man of the series’ during England’s impressive 3-0 series victory over Australia in June 2016. Now a DJ, best-selling author, podcast host, TV analyst, mental health campaigner, brand ambassador and motivational speaker, James is a multi-talented, inspirational and driven individual who has provided keynote speeches to a host of multi-national corporations such as Investec, UBS, British Airways, Google and Mastercard. We are thrilled to welcome this England great to our event!
Pete Graves
A passionate Newcastle Utd fan, Pete has enjoyed a swift rise through the broadcasting ranks to become one of the most recognisable faces on Sky Sports. After leaving university, Pete started his broadcasting career with the hospital radio show Radio Tyneside, before working in the local Metro Radio, and then ITV Tyneside as a sports reporter. Since 2009 he has worked at Sky Sports, mainly as a presenter, where his passion for sport and all-round knowledge are amongst his greatest assets. Over the past few years Pete has become a great asset as a regular host of our events, and we are delighted to have him as always!
The Great Hall, The Alverton Hotel
The Alverton is a beautiful and fascinating Grade II* listed building replete with a rich history and character. The Great Hall is one of the many stunning features from the once Cornish convent that makes this classy four-star hotel so unique. With high vaulted ceilings, the space is in the style of a chapel, with velvet drapes and plush upholstery. With a maximum capacity of just 170 lending the event a real sense of exclusivity, you and your guests will be treated to high class catering and service for which The Alverton is rightly renowned.
