We were delighted to be joined by Warwickshire and England’s legendary batsman Ian Bell to provide insight, analysis and entertainment in our Wyatt Suite lounge for the T20 Blast cricket derby match between the Birmingham Bears and the Worcestershire Rapids. The hospitality on offer at the impressive Edgbaston Stadium was tremendous, with some superb food and drink on offer and and a great time was had by all.
On the field both teams headed into the 2021 match with hopes of qualification to the T20 blast cricket quarter-finals and it was the Bears who came out on top winning a close match by 17 runs after electing to bat first. A brilliant 83 not out by Sam Hain plus a great 52 not out by Carlos Brathwaite, took them the Bears to a total of 169-5 after earlier being reduced to 63-5 and gave them a competitive total to defend. The pair combined together for a thrilling 106 run sixth wicket stand. The Worcestershire Rapids worked hard to keep up with the required run rate, however every time they looked like they were closing in a wicket fell and they ended their innings with 152-6 with Jake Libby top scoring with 36. Danny Briggs for the Bears was the pick of the bowlers with 18-2 off his 4 overs early in the innings. The win leapfrogged the Bears over the Rapids in the able and has left both needing to win to qualify out of the group in the final round of fixtures.
