Gala Golf Classic : Royal Birkdale

Our Gala Golf Classic for 2018 was held at the magnificent Royal Birkdale Golf Club, which hosted the British Open the previous year, where we were joined by around 70 golfers for our latest golf hospitality event. Our VIP guest joining us for an afternoon of golf and as our star turn for the evening Gala dinner was none other than managerial legend, Harry Redknapp! A keen golfer, Harry can still swing a club like a man half his age, and his competitive edge remains as sharp as ever!

After a light lunch before teeing off, our four-balls plotted their way around the famous course, scene of Jordan Spieth’s famous British Open triumph the previous year as he landed the famous trophy for the first time. With conditions ideal for golf, sunny and warm, and little wind, there was some fine play, but on a course as challenging as Birkdale there were more than a few mild curses uttered!

After checking in to the nearby Ramada Hotel in Southport, guests were treated to a sporting dinner in the evening, with Harry Redknapp on stage after dinner with Sky Sports presenter Pete Graves. We’ve worked with Harry on numerous occasions over the years, and you rarely hear him repeat a story, such are his gifts as a raconteur and his vast experience as a manager at the top of the game. This night was no different as he treated guests to a rollercoaster ride through some of the most successful, poignant and comical moments from the last few decades with the likes of Spurs, West Ham, Portsmouth, Southampton and QPR.

After a great night, guests retired with a good few drinks having been taken. The next morning, a hearty breakfast was served to blow away the cobwebs, before guests departed.
