Two unbeaten legends. One earthshaking boxing match. At time of writing, the self-styled gypsy king and WBC champ was tipped to face off against the WBA, IBF and WBO-holding Ukrainian in Saudi Arabia or Wembley, for a fee rumoured as “the biggest purse in boxing history”. If it goes ahead, expect fireworks from this four-belt epic.
Tyson Fury vs Joe Joyce
It’s that man again. If Fury can stop Usyk, he’ll likely face the 6’6” Juggernaut, whose quality was stamped all over his victory against WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker. Promoter Frank Warren believes it will go ahead. “Fury vs Joyce is a fight everyone wants to see. It’ll sell out Wembley Stadium. With all things going to plan, I’d hope to see that fight this summer.”

The pugilists’ rivalry goes right back to amateur days and the prospect of a third meeting is mouthwatering. In recent weeks, Whyte has admitted to finding the backroom talks “frustrating”, but still believes the bout could happen: “If AJ really wants to fight me, it’s not very hard to make happen.”
Anthony Joshua vs Jermaine Franklin
Just as tantalising, Joshua is tipped to fight Jermaine Franklin at the O2 Arena on April 1st, with promoter Eddie Hearn telling fans to write off his boy at their peril. “People who want to downplay his achievements, who want to say he’s finished in the sport – get f***ing ready for the return of Anthony Joshua…”

Richard Riakporhe vs Lawrence Okolie
The London cruiserweight rivals are expected to meet for a world title fight this year. “Richard believes in himself, in his skills, in his training,” Okolie told Sky Sports. “But unfortunately I don’t think it’s going to be enough the day me and him fight each other. But that’s my opinion and the only way to find that out is to actually get in the ring and make it happen.”
Josh Taylor vs Jack Catterall
Taylor has admitted to complacency before the pair’s first fight – when the Scottish fighter won a contentious split decision to retain his super-lightweight crown. But he promises to bring the big guns if a rematch goes ahead this year. As he told Sky Sports: “I won’t be making the same mistake twice.”
Joshua Buatsi vs Dmitry Bivol
The ex-Olympian and the undefeated #2 WBA-ranked light heavyweight contender could clash early this year, believes Eddie Hearn. “We need to provide Dmitry Bivol a voluntary defence of his WBA 175lb title because he’s not going to sit around and wait while Canelo Álvarez defends against a mandatory,” the promoter told the DAZN Boxing Show. “Joshua Buatsi might be the guy that gets the voluntary defence.”
Liam Smith vs Kell Brook
The Liverpool fighter’s recent takedown of Chris Eubank Jr puts him in the frame for a clash against Kell Brook, who saw off long-standing rival Amir Khan last February in Manchester and reportedly wants a return to action. As promoter Ben Shalom said before January’s Smith/Eubank battle: “Kell is desperate for the winner of that fight.”
Canelo Álvarez vs John Ryder
According to Eddie Hearn, one of the year’s hottest super-middleweight fights could play out in the Middle East, Las Vegas, London or Mexico – with Canelo fans praying the champ’s wrist has recovered from surgery. Ryder doesn’t sound phased: “He has showed in the last 12 months he is very beatable,” the Londoner told Metro. “Maybe he is not the Canelo of old.”

Natasha Jonas vs Claressa Shields
This one feels too close to call, with Liverpool-born Jonas clinching an unbelievable three world titles in twelve months, but US fighter Shields on form as the undisputed middleweight champion. Jonas’s trainer Joe Gallagher insists it will happen: “There’s a window of opportunity in April.”
Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano
Last year, Taylor faced down the ferocious Serrano in New York, surviving a hailstorm of punches to be declared the victor via split decision. Now, all eyes are on a rematch at Dublin’s Croke Park. As the Puerto Rican boxer wrote to Taylor on Twitter: “2023 – we dance again.”
